INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT TOP PRIORITIES AT HULETTS

SEPTEMBER 2009 Huletts has a number of new launches and relaunches in progress during 2009, adding even greater value for consumers and ensuring that the brand provides a comprehensive range of sweetening solutions.

Fructose

Huletts Fructose will be available in supermarkets around South Africa, providing yet another sweetening solution, from October 2009.

Fructose is derived from sugar but is (1.5 times) sweeter than regular sugar, therefore enabling consumers to use fewer products to achieve the same level of sweetness as regular sugar.

While fructose is not extracted from fruit as many consumers believe, it does provide health benefits and the use of comparatively less product decreases calorie intake.

Huletts has also been responsible for introducing the first locally manufactured liquid fructose to the South African market, where it is used in the production of a wide variety of foods and beverages.

SUGAlite

In an increasingly health-conscious world, more and more consumers are hungry for sugar-free, low GI treats that meet their wellness needs.

SUGAlite, initially launched in 2005, is ideal for diabetics, slimmers and anyone who is concerned about healthy eating. The product was relaunched in 2009 with a great new doy pack, designed for ease of use and improved shelf presence. It is merchandised in the baking aisle of supermarkets, and has also recently been listed in select pharmacies.

SUGAlite is a baking blend that replaces sugar gram-for-gram in virtually any recipe and is perfect for home baking, jams and preserves, desserts, milkshakes and smoothies.

SUGAlite lowers the Glycaemic Index (GI), as well as total fat and kilojoules in the final baked product, while still providing a delicious sweet taste, golden brown glow and great soft texture.

Health conscious consumers, diabetics and slimmers are a rapidly increasing portion of the market. They love SUGAlite because it enables them to enjoy balanced, healthy treats without the guilt. It is extremely easy to use and the convenient 170g pack makes a complete cake. SUGAlite is the only product in its category that is both sugar-free and low-GI.

EquiSweet with Sucralose Tablets

Green is this season’s sweetest colour thanks to EquiSweet with Sucralose – now available in a convenient tablet format.

Since the launch of EquiSweet with Sucralose sachets, the distinctive green packaging has become a frequent guest at tables around South Africa, and the new tablets are a compact, easy way to make life even sweeter!

It’s all about choice…

A growing number of consumers prefer an aspartame-free, low-kilojoule sweetener that doesn’t compromise on taste. EquiSweet with Sucralose provides just that, and is ideal for slimmers, diabetics, and health and wellness enthusiasts alike.

Registered dietician, Madeleine de Villiers, confirms that sucralose is a great sweetening option: “Sucralose has received a stamp of approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as well as authorities in more than 80 other countries, including South Africa.”

“Sucralose is derived from sugar, so it tastes like sugar,” Madeleine explains, “but the body does not recognise it as a source of energy. It is kilojoule-free and has no impact on blood glucose levels, and no bitter aftertaste! Sucralose maintains its sweetness under high heat and due to its excellent taste it can be used in a wide range of foods and beverages.”

An expert touch

EquiSweet with Sucralose has been developed and manufactured by Huletts, one of South Africa’s favourite brands* with a long history of sweetening expertise.

Quality and taste are essential to Huletts, but so is looking good! The tablets come in a cool, contemporary dispenser that is ergonomically engineered to fit comfortably into your hand. It’s easy to operate and refill, and best of all, slips neatly into your handbag.

EquiSweet with Sucralose tablets joined their sachet sisters from August 2009, making shelves sweeter (and greener) at supermarkets and restaurants nationwide.
