Boston Baked Beans
Ingredients15 ml (1 T) oil½ packet bacon, chopped 1 large onion, finely sliced 1 tin baked beans 1 tin red kidney beans, drained 62 ml (¼ C) Huletts molasses 5 ml (1 t) salt 2 ml (¼ t) ground black pepper 15 ml (1 T) prepared mustard 125 ml (½ C) tomato sauce 62 ml (¼ C) Huletts brown sugar 125 ml (½ C) water |

Method
- Heat oil and fry onions and bacon together till the onions are soft and pale brown.
- Put the beans, Huletts molasses, salt, pepper, mustard, tomato sauce, brown sugar and water into a large casserole dish. Add the onion and bacon and gently mix together.
- Place lid on casserole and bake in preheated oven at 120ºC for ±2 hours.
- Ideal for outdoor entertaining such as braais.
