Thirst quenchers
Refreshing Ginger Beer
Ingredients7 litres Cold Water10 g (1 packet) OR a 25 g cube of Yeast 1 ½ kg Huletts White Sugar 125 ml Raisins 5 ml (1 tsp) Cream of Tartar 30 ml (2 tbsp) Ground Ginger 1 bottle Jamaica Ginger (optional)* *Jamaica Ginger is a highly recommended addition to this recipe. It adds the finishing touch to a good, old-fashioned ginger beer taste (it is available from the chemist). |

Method
- Mash the yeast with a little sugar to make it liquid.
- Mix all the ingredients in a large container. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.
- Cover loosely and leave to stand for 24 hours.
- Strain and bottle.
- Store the sealed bottles in a cool place.
